Our lil RV is a 1978 Dodge Coachman Leprechaun Series. We've been working on it for the last couple weeks updating the 70's interior with a more modern, clean, bright appearance. We plan to hopefully get the exterior painted as well...eventually. Mechanically the RV is very sound the only mechanical issue we have is needing to replace a cracked water pipe. We may also need to replace more of the ceiling following our inspection since the previous owner had replaced most of it already due to water damage.

So far I've used joint compound to fill and holes and smooth out imperfections in the veneer walls as well as began using it to seam together the sections of new ceiling. I took all the cabinets doors and outlet covers off and they all have this crazy Robertson square type of screw (luckily Brett had a bit for them). Then I sanded everything down using a medium grit sandpaper. Once everything was sanded I began priming with killz pro-x interior primer. This type if primer has an anti mildew agent which will help alot with keeping moisture and mildew out!

Crazy how bright and clean its looking already!!!

     Before I was fully done priming I decided it was time to remove the bench seat hide a bed so I could paint behind it as well as remove the old orange and brown fabric and replace it with this awesome new sunbrella fabric I picked up for a score at Wal-Mart for $5 a yard. The fabric is a neutral grey and has a waterproof backing for easy cleanup. Removing the seat proved to be extremely challenging I literally rug burned my arm off trying to get the ratchet in between the water tank and the seat to loosen the nuts. The original plan for recovering the seats was to sew together the cover then wrap the fabric around the seat and staple it to the back. Well the entire frame and back is made from metal and foam....hence nothing to staple too. Now we'll have to create a rod pocket in the fabric to hold a thin metal rod that then will be attached using hog rings to the underside of the metal springs. Waaaay more complicated than I expected but I guess an rv is half auto have house so auto upholstery I will learn! While I was using a razor blade (and hoping not to cut my finger off) removing the tattered 70's sandpaper fabric from the seats my bestie Ashley was working away on some super cute pillows for the RV from two yards of Joel Dewberry Tartan Poppy fabric I got from Goodwill for $5 regularly $9 a yard! To purchase the fabric is can be found here >Joel Dewberry Tartan Poppy Fabric Another day at Goodwill I also scored a cross that goes perfectly with everything in the RV and a sweater and cloth diapers for baby all for around $11!!!

Nesting & News

Had a great day on Sunday getting lots of stuff done! Brett wasn't feeling well so we missed church but I got to spend the morning nesting, cleaning, organizing, and purging Fable's room of broken toys! I also got to finally hangup art on his walls! Turned out amazing and he loves playing in there now :)

After that we spent some time enjoying the lords creation in our garden. It's so exciting to see everything poking up from the soil. We are growing lots of veggies & fruit; tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, bush beans, sweet peas, sunflowers, strawberries, watermelon, spinach, kale, collard greens, 5 different kinds of peppers, & many more! We made the planters our self and I hope to get a tutorial up soon! ;)

Lastly I got some more work done priming the cabinets in our RV! Super productive day!!! Finished it off with yummy homemade pizza! YUM! (sorry forgot to get pizza pictures)

Lots of nesting going on in The McQuiston house! Now for the news!!! We met with someone at the Portland Housing Center yesterday to start a plan in action to buy a house! The people there are super helpful and gave us lots of  information. We have some debt to pay down and got accepted into their IDA savings program that matches your savings 3:1. God is so good we just barely made the list we were #6 of 7 families accepted into the savings program. The plan is within 13 months we will be in the market for our first home! Thanks to everyone that is following this blog can't wait to share more soon!

Goodmorning everyone! I'm really excited to finally start writing this blog I hope it will be a place where you can come to be inspired to redecorate, rearrange, restore, and be renewed by Jesus!

I've been getting my hands into so many different projects lately whether it be around the house or in the RV my husband and I just got. I also have an almost 2 year old son and a lil bebe on the way and would love to share the fun things we do together. Jesus is constantly working on me and I hope to share my stories of his grace love and mercy in my life so you could be encouraged.

Can't believe it but I have a blog guys! I pray that the Lord would use this blog in whatever way he sees fit! Here goes nothing!!!!
